Question about my euro reef skimmer.

I have a euro reef skimmer, but Im not sure what model. It uses sp2-300 pump. I haven't used it for a long time, I took it apart today and noticed that the a lot of propeller thing have broken off due to a piece of string getting stuck. I think only about 8 left. Tried the pump and it turns on and off hanging inside the bucket. Tried it inside the sump lying flat just the pump and runs fine. Should I replace it notice that it get warm also. How much performance do i loose when I lost a lot of the propeler. How much for the propeller or pump. Thanks in advance

You lose a lot of air chopping ability and I am sure quit a bit of flow too. I know that some of them use sedra pumps. You could replace with that or simply the same model pump you had before.

www.euro-reef.com

It looks like they are in the middle of a transition with their online store. It says it will be back up in January. You should then be able to buy the parts you need from them directly.

If the only thing bad is the impeller you can get it from them. Dont throw the old impeller away. It can be Mesh-mod and improve the skimming of the skimmer. I did that when a snail decided to commit suicide taking out about half of the pins with it.

If you were happy with the stock one I would say there is no reason to deviate. I am not sure what size your skimmer is, but if you went with a Sedra I would say sedra 3500 or 5000.
