Check this out for a budget skimmer, I think the NW200 goes for around 250 now? The new XP2000 skimmer is a cone skimmer from reef octopus and would be my top pick. |

I use a asm g3 and love it. IMO it is the best skimmer at that price range.

I understand your on a budget, but if I was you, I would wait 1 more month or two or whatever and spend and extra $100 and buy a real skimmer. Believe you me I was the leader of the cheap skimmer clan. I swore that my cheap skimmer was just as good as any Aqua C EV class skimmer. Well one day my wife bought me one for my birthday. A EV 180 for my 90 gallon. Now that I have something to compare the cheap skimmer too, my god its a whole other world of a skimmer. I paid like $500 in Canada with a pump, in US they run a lot less, probably like $400. If I was you, I would buy a Aqua C EV 180. I have a reef that is heavily stocked with fish and I feed like crazy. My tank is looking awesome since the addition of this skimmer.

sorry I just want to make clear, that if your going to spend the $350 on a medium skimmer, when really you can wait a few months to save a bit more and get a GREAT skimmer. It just makes sense to wait. Especially since you were clear that your tank is heavily stocked.

I personally just got the Vertex IN-100 for my 65 because of the number of lopsided good reviews I'd read. I'm sure the 180 will perform the same.
