I just purchased a ro system and I want to know how far away it can be away from the water source.

just make sure you have the right pressure coming into the filters and youre good. Could be 2ft could be 50ft depending on the pressure coming in your house

Get a pressure guage. These are readily available at most home reno centers, look in the irrigation/watering section. They usually adapt straight to any outdoor hose connection. You should also look into a good quality pressure guage to install before your RO membrane, after the pre filters. This will give you a better idea when it's time to change your pre filters, or if there's a problem with your RO membrane. A good working pressure for RO system is around 65 psi and probably best not to exceed about 100 to 120 psi.

Many of the RO/DI units come with them or you can add it on.

FWIW I think it would have to be really far from the source for there to be an issue. I have had mine right next to the tap and about 100ft away and the pressure (based on the built in gauge) was the exact same.

Hmm. Something doesn't sound right here. You should see a pressure drop with somewhere around 20 to 25 feet or 1/4" tubing.
