feeding fish while gone.
Good morning this is my first time on here and i have a question, I have had my aquarium for 2 mos and have 1 yellow tang, 1 damsel, and 2 cardinals, also have live rock, live sand, 1 leatherneck coral, and 5 different kinds of mushrooms, these are in a 29 gal. nano. I am now feeding frozen shrimp (2 diff. kinds) Is there dry food to feed them if we are gone for two wks or must we find someone to come in and feed them frozen food? THANKS FOR LOOKING, by the way this is our first tank and are really enjoying it and are hooked on it. aag.

Personally, I would have some one come and feed them and possibly do a water change if you premixed some water. 2 weeks is an awful long time to rely on an auto feeder with flakes or pellets.

My tank is about the same age... I didn't feel comfortable leaving for 5 days without someone checking on it. Granted mine is a 65. I have a friend coming over to do the feeding and top off.
How do you plan on handling top off? Is it automated? |

Feeding while on vacation.
We have a system for top off that we rigged up with a drip hose, but i think while we are gone we will have somebody come in and take care of it. Besides that it will not be for a couple of mos. and by that time the fish will all have names and i am sure we will be very attatched to them as we are with our cocker spaniel. Thanks for the info.

I have left for a couple of weeks (Job related) and have had success with auto feeders and flake food. The tank does get dirty, but a quick cleaning / water change and everything was fine. Just make sure you do not feed too much.
Looks like you have enough time to experimnet with the auto feeders. Invest in a good one. The harder part was getting container large enough for ATO. I also had a neighbor stop by a couple of times to check on it. |

I have someone checking in every 2 days at home but it's all automated. Auto feeders for food and ATO set up, Changed about 20% of water before I left, including vaccuuming the gravel plus cleaning the sock in the sump. |
