Pros and cons of tunze vs vortech

Hello everyone...I am currently running two vortechs on my 48x30x20in tank...They are now on wavemode....However, when I run both of them on wavemode. I lost much of directionaly flow....I plan on adding two more pumps to get Now I plan to add two more pumps to get gyre flow around the tank....What do you think I should get, two tunze 6105 or two more vortech...

Thank you

That's a tough question as both are great pumps. Already having 2 vortechs, if it were me, I'd just still with vortechs and get two more. Then you have the option of syncing them together if you chose. The only reason I would get the Tunze is if the mounting location and directional flow isn't able to be achieved by the Vortechs.

I saw on your tank info that you have mp40 and 6025....The only thing I like about the tunze is directional flow...Yet I have never had tunze 6105 or higher so I can't tellll...

I do not think you need to buy any more pumps. I have a 72X36X25, and 2 work fine for me. Run 1 pump at full to get a gyre. If you run it with the programer you can go about 1 minute, then have it switch off and the other pump switch on. The flow will reverse (if you have the pumps positioned correctly). The other option would be to get a wave timer and run the pumps at longer settings (like 5-10 min) before reversing. The theory behind the gyre flow is that instead of random flow canceling each pump, the movement is continuous and not canceling. Look for 20cm per second flow.

The 2 pumps you have should be plenty. Put them on reef crest or lagoon mode and your flow will be fine.
