Skimmer compartment questions w/ pictures

Hi Guys....so i upgraded my skimmer to a MR-1 skimmer with a Mag 12. My tank is only 75 gal with a sump, as you will see in the pictures......my issue is this

My overflow is 700 gph
My return pump is a Mag 7 (700 gph)

My skimmer uses a mag 12 (1200 gph)

so I will ask my questions after the pictures:

From another angle:

So here are my questions:

having the skimmer overflow in the same compartment as the skimmer pump....am I defeating the purpose and skimming the same water I just skimmed?

If I try to have the skimmer overflow to a different compartment it creates an overflow since the return pump (mag 7) is pulling less water than the skimmer pump (mag 12) is producing.

Any inputs or should I leave it as is.

Or I have another option, i have an extra mag 7, should I put the mag 7 in the skimmer instead of the mag 12?

i hope i am not confusing anybody.....please give me your inputs.

Thanks again.

It would more efficient if mag 12 was taking in the dirtiest of water which is not where its taking it in from now. From what i understand its sucking in mostly water already skimmed. Is the skimmer working well with lots of skimate
