RV Hose for transfering water?
I know never to use a garden hose for transfering aquarium or drinking water. However, does anyone have experience using a RV hose rated "drinking water safe" for top off and water changes in a reef aquarium?
I currently am using the clear hose for aquarium use, but want something larger for higher volume. I appreciate any input. Thanks, Duane |

As long as it is rated for drinking water so it wouldn't leach any harmful chemicals and hasn't had any thing other than drinking water (i.e. oil, gas, etc) in it, should be just fine.

That is exactly what I use to pump water from my garage to my ATO container and for water changes, no issues at all. I do however make sure to drain the hose completely when I finish as from what I read "food safe / drinking water safe" only means an "acceptable, not harmful to humans" amount of chemicals etc. may leach out of the item.

Great point about draining the hose. Have you used it with SW or only with FW? I was wondering if the metal ends showed corrosion due to the SW.
Thanks, |
