What are the best fish for a smaller tank about 29g with a 15g sump

there are tons of good fish for that size tank. A really good place to start is at liveaquaria.com under "nano fish". These are fish especially good for Nano tanks. You also might want to consider heading over to the nano tank room here.
As a guide, you generally do not want fsh that grow too large, OR demand too much room in the aquarium. I personally would want fish in every area of the water column. Like 1/2 fish on the bottom of the tank, 1/2 in the middle, and 1/2 that stay near the top. For the most part, gobies are fine in that size tank(a small few may not be because of their diet) and some blennies are good for that sie tank too. Both are bottom-dwelling species. Clowns are common, as they are pretty hardy, and usually to not "claim" too much space. Then usually people choose something that's fairly active in the middle level of the water-column. Many like wrasses for their personality. Just some ideas. |
