How much ammonion for LFS live rock?

Just curious how high an ammonia concentration I should expect if I purchased live rock from a local store and had it in my new tank within 2 hours. Most of the literature assumes there will be a lot of die off- not sure if that's true in this case?

50 lbs. of live rock in a new 55 gallon setup.

I'm seeing readings of .25 ppm after 3 days. (if I am correctly interpreting the colours, which I have some doubt.)

Should I seed this with any more ammonia or just wait for a rise in NO3 levels?

Thanks is advance,
Scott

It will def spike higher and you'll start to see a spike in NO2, then a rise in NO3

It's hard to give you a definite answer because everyone’s experience is going to be different. I would say that .25 is right around were it should speak out, however that isn't definitive, your best bet is to keep testing until ammonia is down to 0. 2 hours is a short period that your cycle shouldn't take long, granted that the live rock you got was truly cured.

I'd just wait. When the ammonia hits zero, you could start feeding a bit of food to keep the animals in the live rock going, and that'd also help ensure that there's plenty of ammonia processing capacity.
