Which protien skimmer is the best

Im setting up a 75 gallon reef and I want to but a good skimmer. All I see out there is the toys that dont do squat. I used to have a Precision marine venturi skimmer but now there are so many other types such as needle wheel and others. Im setting up reef tank with live sand. No bioballs just a skimmer, live rock and live sand. I will have LPS corals and shrooms and other soft corals and a few fish to eat algea such as tangs.

Also, can I have the water from the tankgoing directly down into the skimmer and then have it pumped back to the tank or do I have to pump it directly into the skimmer. I always wanted to try this but I didnt know if it would work.

You can do that with any recirculating (external) model. But skimmer outlet must go into the sump, not the aquarium.
