HOLE in my Pagoda Cup and won't clue down???
Got a pagoda cup (5") this past weekend. All polyps are open and doing well.
Last night attempted & failed to super clue gel the coral to rock. Glue stuck to base of coral but not to rock. Coral was out of the water for approx. 2/3 minutes and tonight I noticed a hole in the center (next to a hitch hiker feather duster). Any ideas? Out of the water? Feather duster? Also, and ideas on clueing would be apprecitated. There is still all the super clue on the base. Should I gob a ton more on it, so it will get all the way down into the holes in rocks. Thanks in advance. |

got a picture? I had a problematic coral that wouldn't glue down I ended up wasting about 2 tubes just to get him situated.

I used 3 of the tiny tubes last night without any luck. Sorry no shots at the moment. Reading the method of super glueing appoxy to coral and then to rock?
Any thoughts ont the pencil size hole in coral? |

not sure about the hole but it needs to be epoxied to the rock not glued. superglue gel works for little jobs, epoxy for bigger ones. I epoxied mine about 1.5yrs ago and now its encrusted completely over the epoxy. didn't even know they could grow a base/encrust down the backside (being just a plate with a smooth backside when I got it).

+1 on the epoxy. If you've never worked with it it's basically clay that once the two parts are mixed (squeezed together) the reaction causes it to hardned in a few hours. It's not always easy to work with and it's USELESS for sps frags, but that's what I use to connect tank rock to SPSs mounted on a rock already as wall as my LPSs.
Use gloves too, unless you like the smell of clay on your hands. |

Thanks all, will get appoxy and re-try.
Also, new additon is that it appears that coral is dying on a tip/end. Then from tip on backside down to base in a 1/2" wide strip is white. Inside of coral is still green and balance of backside is the soft purple. Can a pagoda live, if part of it is dead or will/can it continue to spread/die off? |
