where to put powerhead / what type?

i have an oceanic 175g bowfront and i currently have 4 koralias 2#3's and 2#4's along with the return pump, but this is not enough flow. all the powerheads are on the back wall (looks better). this tank is reef ready. i was thinking of taking the 2 PH's off the back wall and using a vortec mp40 in the on the back wall in the middle. will this be too much flow shooting at the front of the tank?

p.s i dont want powerheads on the sides because of the look and cleaning process.

you could get a couple of mp20's instead, but i'd go with mp40 because you can always dial them back.

IMO you won't be taking full advantage of the Vortech because the flow will hit the wall, and dispease which will get the job done, but not as effectively as it was shooting a stream into the flow of the tank. If you were going to place it on the back wall, I would try and get it towards the center so it could disperse evenly.

I agree with Sedor, although the middle front of the 175 bow's curved glass should help disburse water to the sides a bit better than a standard flat front tank.

Vortechs are sweet by the way. .. IMO, worth it to put them on the side of the tank, even though you state it doesn't look as good.

thanks for the replys, i will have to put up a pic of the tank and see where the powerheads would best fit. 2 of them were on the sides but now there on the back wall and theres still some good flow throughout the tank. ill have to look for some good used mp40's or so....
