KZ Fiji purple
I am wondering if any of you are familiar with these bulbs. How long to they take to break in and how is their tone affected?
Just received my first T5 setup (TekLight 48" 4 bulb) and chose the following bulbs in this order. Front Actinic+ Fiji Purple Aqua blue+ Actinic+ Looks great, but the overall temp is a bit more on the pink side than I expected. I am wondering if I should expect any change as the bulbs break in. Any feedback is appreciated. Regards, Joe |

What you see is what you get, T5 don't really change that much IMO.
Swap out the actinic+ for blue+ and you will be pleased. |

+1 on the WYSIWYG. You might consider adding a midday. I would probably go:
Actinic+ FP midday or 10k Actinic+ That will give you plenty of blue spectrum for fluorescing, some red to make the coral colors pop, and some white to keep the tank from washing out. My .02. |

This is actually a fellow reefers tank who uses the same combo that I fell in love with. I would consider taking out the aqua blue because the 2 blue + bulbs will be white enough to light that tank up.
Certainly all personal preference. I'm tagging along as well on the pic for a blue+ fiji purple aqua blue special blue+ I was told by grim reefer to do that combo but I ultimately decided to change the one bulb when I fell in love with that tank pic I posted. |

I would also think this would be very dark as well. You would have two actinics against 1 blueish white bulb and the fiji purple is going to be violet in color. |

Actinic+ - Geissmann Fiji purp AquaBlue plus (11,000K) - Geissmann Actinic+ - Geissmann Dusk Dawn - 2x Actinic+ Sorry for the quality pics, but I they should give a general idea of the bulbs. Hoping to grow some softies and add some LPS down the line now that I upgraded my lights. Still relatively new to this lol Last edited by FortyFour; 01/28/2010 at 07:17 PM. |
