Friend or Foe?

What is this pinkish stuff growing on my rocks? Someone told me it was a kind of macroalge but I can't find anything that looks like this. I'm a reef newb and just learning. Any insight or info about this (see the middle of this picture.) Thanks!!!!

I had the same stuff grow out of some LR.

It grew, shrunk, and disappeared. Never did get an ID on it.

Looks like some sort of macro to me too. Almost certainly harmless, and very pretty.

Current Tank Info: 120 mixed reef with 40b sump, RO 150 skimmer, AI Sol Blue x 2, and a 60g Frag Tank with 100g rubbermaid sump. 2 x Kessil A360w lights, BM curve 5 skimmer

I've also got some of this growing on some LR. The best I've been able to figure is it's a Botryocladia sp. I think a common name is red grape algae. I like the looks of it but I've been reading that red algae is likely to be outcompeted by green algae so it probably won't spread a ton.

Had the same thing happen as mann1139 and it was short lived.

yes its a macro. mine are red. once in a while they will pop off to spread like budding. they are nice looking and dont grow fast
