aquaticlife dual lamp t5 ho

ok so i was just doing a water change and my friend offered to go clean my glass top in the bathtub i told him to be careful but he ended up cracking. So i was wondering to put my acuaticlife dual lamp t5 ho light fixture on top of the tank without glass blocking the water there is a piece of plastic guarding the actual bulb but is it ok i have little drops of water hitting the light because of the power head any suggestions??? and if u kno if its ok with this light plz let me kno thnxs!

So is the acrylic shield still on the fixture? I feel it should be fine as long as the fixture is elevated from the waters surface a bit. Hope that helps, Wiz

Pull the glass top off there no good they reduce airflow over the tank.

ok, so from this I get the idea that you have a glass lid on top of the tank that sits flush. Then you have the lights like 3" above that, with a plastic guard that slides in and out of the light fixture.

The glass part got broke, and now there is water hitting and collecting on the plastic part of the light fixture.

If that is the case, it is FINE. You might have to add some saltwater for top-offs, because salt will collect. I run my aquaticlife fixture on an open-top tank, and my plastic collects a decent amount of water and salt, so i do about 50/50 top-off to maintina 1.026 or so.

Current Tank: 20 Gallon tall, 4-bulb t5 HO, Eshopps psk75H, ac-70 fuge. So far, green clown goby, striped goby, more gorillas than I wish I had, 5 SPS frags, 3 LPS Frags, 1 Softee, Turkey Wing Clam.

Plan for the future: 120 gallon 4ft glass tank.
