What are these?
Hello all...sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in. If so please move it.
I am trying to figure out what these little slug-like things are and if they are bad for my coral. I first noticed them a few days ago and they seem to be congregating on colony of zoas. As a result they have closed up. Sorry for the bad pictures but they are the best I could get. These appear to be small slugs that have green wing like structures on the back of them. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Can't see clearly in the pics, but from your description it sounds like a Nudibranch of some type. There are zoa-eating varieties, look here

Yes better pics will help us ID them better, but I agree, from you description it sonds like zoa eating nudi's.
We will need to see pics to ID for sure, but if they are, they are definitely bad, and you want to pull them all out.

damn....thanks for the quick response guys. After google imaging nudibranch I am sad to report that is in fact what they are. So after a quick search it seems dipping is the best method for eradication?

Probably, you will need to pull out ALL your zoas and dip them, you you also need to be cognoscente of eggs as well.

As well as a dip in lugols, I would invest in a wrasse, 6-line, yellow coris, or possum will pick off the nudis. You will need to carefully inspect your zoas for eggs sack and manually remove/scrape them off as a dip will not kill the eggs.
