tank heat
Ok here's the deal. Have a 120g mixed reef tank and trying to determine what is causing the water to heat up. Was running 2-150w MH with 2-96w atinics. All lights were about 5" off the water and the hood was an Outer Orbit with built in exhaust fans. Am now running 2-250w MH and 36 Powerbrite LED's with the MH's being 10" off the water and a canopy with 2 Eco brand 4 1/2" exhaust fans built in. The return pump is an external Blueline 100 and the protien skimmer is a Euro Reef 350 submersed in the 15g sump. Have a Current 1/3hp chiller set at 80 degrees and it kicks on even without the MH lights running. Have had 3 seperate inexpensive digital thermometers in the tank that all read between 78 and 79 degrees. Ambient temperature of the room is now 72 degrees. The tank does sit in front of a window but the blinds are kept closed on that side of the house and the chiller will still kick on in the middle of the night. Would like to know if anyone has any ideas other than replacing the Blueline pump and by the way, I have tried shutting off the skimmer to see if "possibly" the heat was coming from that submersable motor but it had no affect on the temp. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Blue
