rocket, I had black sand in a 20 gal tall, I did not like it. The sand always looked dirty and the tank looked dark. Don't know if this helps you. but i thought i would give my opinion.

I had it in my 375g and 470g tanks and after 1.5 years opted to get rid of it. Reasons were the liverock chipped off pieces of rubble and coralline algae would die off and all of it mixing in the sand created a "dirty" look. Also, the tanks looked darker and smaller which became apparent when I changed to Caribsea special grade reef sand which was much brighter.

There are tons of threads on black sand on this site. If you search it you'll probabaly find a plethora of information with pictures. The general outcome of the threads you will read state that black sand end up looking much dirtier than tanks with white sand and mostly all who get it regret getting it. Some like it but most either plan to change it, or already changed it out.

I have the tahitan moon black sand in my 200g and I hate it. I love the color but the grain size on some particles are just to small so sand will kick up all the time and get all over everything.

Another issue with Tahitian Moon sand is that a decent amount of it is actually "magnetic". SO, if you get too close to the sand with your magnet, or drop your magnet in the sand, you will see a LOT of it sticking to the magnet. This leads to scratching of the glass

I never saw a warning, however, I never had an issue with coral growth/health or fish either.

I would like to thank everyone for their imput, I thought it was something i wanted for my 90 gal. setup but now i have my doubts. black sand is a little pricey and then to have other problems is not what i wanted. guess i ll play it safe and go with the white. Again thankyou everyone. Rock..
