Trying to Catch the Devil Chromis....any suggestions?

Jen and I have a 125 gallon with a devil of a fish, a bi-color blackmouth chromis that we've had for the past six years. We see a lot of fish that we'd like to put in there but always find ourselves saying, "not with the chromis, not with the chromis". Well, we're tired of saying that. He is extremely aggressive and needs to go NOW!
The tank is stockpiled with live rock and coral and taking it apart is out of the question. So I need to know from those who have had success catching fish how you did it. Thanks

I remember when zoanthids were called things like "green" and "orange" and not "reverse gorilla nipple."

I was dreading catching a flame angel in my tank. I tried the 2 liter coke bottle diy trap and it literally worked in 5 minutes. I was shocked. The only issue I could see is that you may catch other fish too. I caught a yellow tang and the flame angel at the same time. I think it is worth a shot first before you get involved with more elaborate traps.

Hey Lobster....THAT just may work! Thank you for the link! I have 3 things Im gonna try. I will try that container, if that doesnt work, I will try the coke bottle and if that doesnt work, I will try the barbless hook.
It sucks that we have avoided putting anymore fish in our tank for 5 yrs cause of this dang fish! No more!!! He no longer rules the 125 gallon world!

Wow, 125 was not enough for him? I would have speared him a long time ago!

Well we finally did it! We tried everything from Lobster's DIY trap, to various types of netting. You know how we did it? The only way that worked..........breaking the tank apart. Wish it didnt come to that but hey...he's gone, we can get some nice fish that we've always wanted, and the tank is aquascaped a little better.

That's not reassuring to hear. I have the same issue with one black white striped damsel. The thing is so fast and bothers every new fish that comes into my aquarium. I've tried traps, luring him to the surface with food, wait for it go to sleep. Nothing works. At least you made the call to tear down the aquascaping. I can't. That would be a long weekend.

A mirror in the fish trap is a sure way to catch aggressive fish.

Good idea Julie, I never thought of that -- makes sense though.
