filtration (mechanical "filter sock") experts look here
Q: does bleach (dilute or full strength) break down the material in a poly filter sock? In other words, will soaking a 10 micron filter in bleach ruin it's micron rating at all? TIA!

I use bleach when washed, but have never soaked them.

Gary, the only answer I can give is anecdotal - my socks are washed with bleached (not soaked in it) after every use. Most of them have probably been washed at least 50 times. When they were new they clogged up, to the point of overflowing, after approx. 36 hours of use. Now, after 50 washing cycles, they still clog at 36 hours. Tells me the bleach is not effecting the micron rating.
Hope this helps.
