Adding onto my system - Refugium
So i have had about 30 lbs of LR curing for the past 7 months. I havent been doing regular water changes on it which leads me to my concern about adding it into my system.
I have about 25-30lbs of LS (dried) and that 30lbs of LR that i was hoping to turn into a DSB and refugium. I have an 18gal tote that i was going to use. However, my question is whether or not i need to do anything to my dried out sand and my rock before i think about adding it into my already running system. I have a 66 gallon system with a 36 gallon DT. I run carbon and phosban reactors. Prizm skimmer running fine. It's a well established tank of 2 years now. So do i need to 'cure' my sand and ensure that my extra rock is 'cured' before i add it in? And what is the proper process for doing this? Thanks a bunch! -Steven

The sand and rock are fine to add now if they have no organic debris to decay. I'd probably put them in a tub with saltwater, a powerhead, and a heater to be sure about that, but they might be fine as is.
