Which Powermodule for my SPS Tank?

My tank dimensions are: 48(L) x 30(W) x 20(h). I will be keeping almost entirely SPS. I am not sure which light I should get. I am in between the 8 x 54 W Powermodule and the 10 x 54W. I know the 8 bulb would be more than enough in terms of the height of my tank, but, it is fairly wide at 30". I am afraid if I get the 8 bulb then I will not be covering enough front to back. The 8 bulb is 17.5" deep and the 10 bulb is 21.5" deep. But, on the other hand if I get the 10 bulb I don't want to bleach everything and in turn have to raise my light to an obnoxious height. Any opinions would be great.

Thanks.

Dave

I have a 60x30x26 and went with the 10x54W. I get a nice spread front to back without any light spillage.

I have a 25 x 21 x 17 with 6 x 24W and this is plenty of light but I could go with 8x24W

If I were you, I will get the 10x54W.

the 10x won't bleach anything more than the 8x, it would just give better front to back coverage and allow for even more bulb combo options.

If you have the cash you could get the 10 bulb and just take out two bulbs if you feel like it's too much. Awesome tank dimensions by the way.

Seems like the consensus is the 10 bulb; I was leaning towards that anyway, just wanted to run it by some of you guys before I threw out the money if I didn't need it.

Thanks again.

Dave just make sure you properly acclimate your corals to the new P.M. It will blow your mind how much power this fixture puts out and if not careful you'll bleach corals within days.

Yes the 10 bulb beast will be well received by your sps, you'll need to make a little clip like this one or the shield sags a bit. Only a 3 week owner but it's a winner.

Save your money and get the 8 bulb Powermodule (I actually own one).

My tank is 48" wide, 30" deep and 18" tall. Front to back coverage is more than adequate and the light is suspended 12" above the surface. I replaced a Giesemann Infiniti 2x250W MH / T5 pendant and the PM kicks @$$!

I did a PAR comparison last year http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1684462

Cheers!

Yes. The Dog Father is why I bought a 8 bulb PM.
