what is best skimmer for a 300gal?
what would you recommend for a 300 gal mixed reef with a 100 gal sump? cheap is good.

You don't want to be cheap on your skimmer...It's way to critical to the system..
Unless of course your definition of cheap is an alpha cone/BK budget..

On a more serious note, there is a Deltec 902 for sale in the equipment forum I belive that would work wonders on your tank. i bought one used here as well adn I have it on my 450 gallon system and i love it!!! It is big, but you can also run in in your sump if you have the height!
Other than that, your BubbleKing/Alpha Cones are awesome adn so are you ATB's!!! I also agree that you should NOT skimp on your skimmer! you will end up upgrading later anyway.

I would recommend the physically LARGEST one you can deal with...which might not be the most expensive. In my mind, it is still about contact time and flow rate. Smaller size is a compromise.
