Can I see your 20g sump?
I am in the planning stage for a sump that will sit under a 57g tank (36x18 fp). It will house a vertex in-100 and either an eheim or maxi utility pump for a return.
How large of a fuge is necessary to be effective for a tank this size? My aim is to have numerous small fish, and a mix of corals, so bio load will be on the heavy side. Id like to see what you have done with your 20g sumps, both high and long. I am sure others with far more experience have improvements that I have not thought of yet. So feel free to share your pix, plans, and suggestions.

I don't have any pix, but I used a 20g long under my old 58g.
I had it divided into three sections of almost equal size. Input side (where drain water enters sump): holds skimmer and drain, constant water height at about 8.5". Middle area: refugium and heater, constant water level at about 7.5" (bubble trap) Return area: holds pump and ATO sensor, also some extra live rock, water level fluctuates
