Tank Advise and Stocking
I was going to get a 90-100 gallon tank and i dont know if i should get the 100 gallon truvu aquasystem or a 90 gallon regular acrylic tank without any filtration and i could get an overflow and a sump. Also after that i wanted to do a predator tank and was wanting some suggestions for fish that i could stock the tank with.

To Reef Central I'd get a system with a built-in overflow. That's easier than having the tank drilled, which is another possibility. I never trusted hang-on overflows. I've never kept a predator tank, so I don't know many that fit in that size system, but a dwarf lionfish would. The spines are venomous, though.

Never had an issue with my hang overflow.. It's only been 5 weeks, but I've done some testing of it.. Shutting the aquarium breaker off, letting it run low, and installing an ATO to keep it as hands free as possible. Though it's been a short amount of time, I can't say that the HOB siphon overflow is that bad.. Seems o.k.I think I've had snails take a ride down it and no issues so far.

I ran a hang-on overflow for a few months without problems, but there are enough possible issues that I decided to disconnect the refugium rather than run that way. Lots of people are successful for years; others flood water onto a floor.
