Strange Invaders! Mystery corals appearing in your tank.
Like the title says, have you ever found a coral growing in your tank that: A. was never there before, or B. sold it off years ago only to discover one living in anonymity.
If this has happend to you, tell the tale. I'll go first. About 3 years ago I bought a small frag of millie online and once it was placed (I know it should never have happened, but I tend to be cavalier from time to time) I poured the water from the bag into my tank. About 1 year goes by and all of a sudden I see a strange tri-colored stony popping up from the LR in pretty much the same place I poured the water from that bag. In about 6 months it trippled in size and got fragged up and shared with my club. It's not mega-pretty, but I like it. This one is the kicker though. Recently (in the past month) I reaquascaped my tank, removed some LR, scrubbed it all with a course brush and syphoned off a decent amount of LS. With the tank all pretty and clean I could find zoas that were knocked off the scrubbed rocks by looking down into the tank from the top. Sunday (2 nights ago) I take a gander at the tank and its inhabitants and found a mineature head of Frogspawn. Do I have any frogspawn in my aquarium...NO. I did have some in my tank at one time, but that was 2 YEARS ago! Now, if only my tank would start growing money...

I had the same happen to an acro. RTN then gone. It eventually got all brown and fuzzy, like my LR. Then out of the blue, one tip came back. couple months later whole thing came back like nothing ever happend to it.

I had an unusual orange frogspawn totally die on me. Fortunately I previously fragged it and sent two heads to another reefer, where it flourished.
I left the dead skeleton in my tank. 6 months later I have a teeny pea-sized head popping out tentacles that are unmistakeably orange frog.

When I need a piece of LR or 2, I like to get pieces that had been in established tanks if possible. The last $4 piece I bought had a small encrusting coral on it - was pretty sure it was a Monti - posted it up here with a pic and the consensus I got was porites... It turned out to be a nice orange digi with purplish tips. That was about a year ago, it's baseball sized now.

I had a tank crash a couple years ago. There were some of those green palys that nobody wants in there at the time. The crash was because the overflow clogged and the ATO kept topping off until the sump water was brackish, then the overflow unclogged, water went down, poored through the roof and into the garage and killed everything in the tank because they were living in brackish water.
these things were in brackish water for about a month before we started up the next cycle. Now after 2 years of the new tank being up, what do I see pop out of a rock? a stupid green paly... there are already 4 of them now
