I know that aqueon is allglass but how is their quality now? it has been years since I purchased a tank.

Also, on a 180 would you get a noticeable difference with starfire?

Aqueon (as mentioned, formerly AGA) builds a quality tank. I would say not as quality as older Oceanic, but better than the OLD Perfecto. Somewhere in the middle of the road. Although I think Central owns Aqueon AND Oceanic now don't they? Maybe it's one of those Ford/Mercury things...different name, same brand. ? Maybe there really IS a difference between them, who knows. For all I know, they are all made in the same warehouse. lol And for what it's worth, the bad rap Perfecto used to get years ago is long gone. They have really stepped their game up and their deep dimension series is sick. In my opinion (if space isn't a contributing factor) you could go with the Perfecto DD 300 which is 6x3x27 and you'd be happier than a 180. They use starfire glass and all the goodness you'd want out of a quality tank.

What have you been quoted for on the 180? I'm looking at 180's and Marineland(Perfecto) 180G is $899.

Hold out and get a used one man.

People are ALWAYS getting rid of 6' tanks. They invest the money in the tank and stand, and then realize they really can't afford it.

I got my 180+Stand+Lighting for $1000. The lighting was less than 3 months old, and the tank was only a year old.

If you were going for a custom dimension tank, obviously you can't buy that used.... But for a generic Aqueon Tank, go for the used man.

Dump the money you save into corals or upgrade equipment.

I bought a new 180g perfecto from a lfs here for $640 at the end of the year.
Seems well built to me.
It is certainly heavy.
I blew out a quad in my leg when the lfs owner and I moved it just 15 ft.
Almost 3 months and it still hurts.

Talked to my LFS today. $899 for the Marineland. He said that the distributor for Aqueon/AGA is discounting their big tanks because they are going to start selling under "Deep Blue Professional". At any rate he quoted me $725 for the AGA with overflows on the back and $899 for the AGA with overflows in the corners. Said the AGA did not come with the overflow plumbing kits like the Marineland..... So pretty much a wash between the two....
