Two stage Calsium Reactor
Hi
I wonder if I can fill the entire second chamber with magnesium? When there is a single chamber reactor the rule is 10%. True? |

What do you wish to achieve filling the entire thing with dolomite?

How high do you want your magnesium to go??- the reason that 10% is suggested is that is what will keep your magnesium stable. I would either put 10% also in the 2nd chamber, or just leave it plain aragonite.

I don't follow the logic or reasoning either.
I'm having a hard time finding where Randy spoke about it, but in short using over 10% throws your parameters out of whack. I believe it starts adding an excess of alkalinity. If the purpose of using a second chamber is to increase the pH, do it via the media type you're using. For example, use large grained ARM or GenX in the main chamber which uses a lower pH to dissolve. Use smaller grain media in the second chamber which takes a higher pH.
