Skimmer Question

Hello everyone I just bought a Super Reef Octopus 6000 External
Includes Bubble Blaster HY6000 pump. Now I have not had a needle wheel skimmer in a long time I have been using a PM Billet 3 Great Skimmer I just wanted to go a different direction like Green lol my question to you guys is why does this skimmer @ times go into overdrive and fill up the cup? My water level in the Body of the skimmer is just below where the neck and the body meet is this too high?
Second are there any Mods that can be done to this skimmer?
Thanks everyone that responds to this Post Ron

For new skimmer is normal to fill cup so fast. He do that because oils and other things what remain after production, and if you put a new sea water in it, then that also can be reason for 'abnormal' foam production. If foam dnt stop overflow after week or two, then problem is in too high water level.
