My sand is turning green but it is not algae?
The sand in my biocube is turning green but it does not appear to be algae.I suppose it could be but it is not something i have seen before. The grains look like they were dipped in green food coloring . I wonder if it is a green coraline algae.
Has any one experienced this before?

Is it pressed against the wall of the glass or on the top of the sand bed?

Here ya go! Excuse the dirty glass cleaning the tank tomorrow.
It was so gradual I thought it was my imagination but I set up a little frag refugium in my big tank it and I used "new" fossilized reef rock for rubble and when I put a few frags in the grains of sand fell out and you can really see how green it is.

I honestly don't know what it is. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

bubble algae? nah that's not it. I looked closer at the pics. It looks similar to something I had. Manually remove it as much as you can with out having it spread. I never had a real way of getting rid of it, I took the tank down after I had gotten rid of most of my sand bed.

I have no idea what sand it was it was years ago but I would not have bought it if it was not recommended for marine tanks. It probably is some sort of algae because I noticed that the sand is still white in shaded areas.
