skim waste
Would the color of skimwaste reflect the health of your tank?

What color skimmate are you getting?
Dry skimming tends to be darker, black coffee color. Wet skimming looks more like water downed iced tea to green tea. Sean

not necessarily
Just like when you eat three bowls of fruit loops and your poop is bright green, what you feed the tank can have an impact on the color of the skimmate slightly that may have been a bad analogy as fruit loops isnt good for you, but I have noticed slightly different colors when I change my food choices drastically

Like Sean said, biggest factor is how wet or dry you skim

I usually run it dry skimming and my skimmate is usually a really dark green olive color. I usually feed my fish flakes and frozen brine and mysis shrimp while alternating with ocean plankton.
