ATO and a canister filter
Background
I have several SW systems all are coral reefs. Each uses a sump/refugium and all are thriving. My Challenge I have a ZeroEdge cube (12gallon - 15 x 15 x 15 3/4" acrylic) that I want to set up, but because of the stand constraints, I was thinking of using a canister filter. The integrated stand is tall (36") but because of the cube style tank, it is very pedestal in configuration. The stand is 18 x 18 x 36 and made of black acrylic... the rear access opening is about 13" wide and 28" tall. It is well suited for a canister, not so much for a sump. Especially with the rear access. Inthe past I had an external sump that sat behind it and it worked great... but I would like to do something more simple and compact. My question As you know the water drains over the sides of the display, and into a trough. At the bottom are two drains inside the stand. The return goes right up through the bottom into a stand pipe. This style tank means that there is alot of evaporation. I will want an ATO. How can I do an ATO while using a canister filter? I also cant/wont have any way of using a float or switch in the display. |
