ICECAP660 in a Nova 36"
Okay, this time I am going to ask the questions BEFORE I actually destroy something this time... a little out of character, I know...
I have a Nova Extreme 3" x 6 lamp fixture. Looks liek one of the ballasts has burnt out. The one that has just the 2 lamps on it. I haven't opened it up yet, but do I assume that the there is 2 ballasts, one running 2 lamps, and one running 4? A friend of mine runs a little salty LFS here in town, and he has an ICECAP 660 that he is gonna sell cheap. How should I do this? Should I put the ICECAP in place of the blown ballast, and run just 2 daytime lamps off of it, or do I move the stock one, that is running the 4 lamps, over to the 2 lamp switch and put the ICECAP on the 4 lamp side? i am not 100% on the way it works, but the ballast has a maximum amount that it will run, but does it have a minimum? Right now I have 4 Actinics in the fixture, and I have a couple of GLO retros on it to get light in it, until I figure this out. Any ideas? Am I missing something? how would YOU solve this?

I double checked the situation, and I was wrong. It is half of the 4-lamp side of the fixture that is not working. I have 2 blue in the half of the 4-lamp side that are working, and 2 blue in the 2-lamp side. If I put the Icecap in the 4 lamp side, and power the actinics... thats not a great idea, is it?
ug. I guess I gotta tear the thing apart to get my answers.

Do not use an IC660 in that fixture!
a) It probably won't fit in the fixture anyways. b) you will create a TON of heat with that ballast and do not have the cooling in place. You will go through bulbs every 4 to 6 months if lucky. Contact Current and see what they say to do or get a new fixture.

I believe the ballasts used are made by Sunpark. Either way, I would suggest contacting Current and seek the proper replacement ballast. JMO
