40 br

So this time im going to play by the rules on rc

Since my 12 gal tank I had set up (not the one I posted on this site) started to leak I had to rush move all the corals to this tank.

What it has:
150 wat halid (I will change this to 2 150W)
2 1200 return pumps split to each side of the tank.
6 in sand bed int the fuge
150W halid for the sea grass I like to try my hand at growing some time.
coralife super skimer.

My 40BR with 20L fuge

Also the top is no longer as I had put it on when I was doing some work so the yellow head sleeper goby did not jump out.

Tank looks good, that starfish really stands out! I have a question, how are you running your overflow? It looks like you just have a hole in the back panel, with an elbow facing up? Sorta like they have at a lot of LFS, takes up very little space, but is it loud? I am downgrading from a 70g, to a 40b since it has the same footprint (36x18) but the 40b is only 16". My 70g has a coast to coast overflow on the short side, but I was thinking for my 40b I would do exactly what (I think) you have. How big is your bulkhead, and again, is it loud setup the way you have it?
Thanks! also, is your skimmer new? If so it may need some break in time, otherwise since the tank is newly setup it may not be pulling a ton since you dont have a high bioload.

Thanks,

You are right its just a 90 frome the bulk head. Its not loud at all I think this has to do with the fact I am at the max that it can keep up with the pumps. The water sets 1/8th frome the top of the pvc so It dose not get much air. the bulk head is a 1in. The tank is in the bedroom and the skimer is what is loud.

OK cool, thanks for the info! My tank will be in the dining area of my apartment, so I think I am going to try this method first and see how it works. I have a Mag 7 return, hopefully that wont be too much for a 1" since I think that is what I have as well. Good luck with your tank!

Is there a screen or something on that drain? It looks like if a snail crawled in there and clogged it you would have a flood!

How many watt halide is that on the fuge?!? What are you growing in there?

Well each pump is pushing out around 200GPH so if you are not more then 400GPH I think it will be fine.
