Do scooter blennies change colors?

I have a scooter blenny and I'm starting to wonder if they can change colors. I keep on finding him different shades of color.

I don't know if it is my eyes playing tricks on my or whether he really can. They are almost always just gradual changes. But sometimes it seems really different. His white spots seem to go from super white to almost as dark as the brown spots.

not exactly changing colors like say, a cuttlefish, but yeah the coloration can intensify and become more dull in different situations.

they don't chance color really, they can just change how dark or light colored they are, mine are always almost white in the morning when they first come out of the sand, and get darker as the day goes on.

i've had a mated pair in my 90g for a year now

Scooter blennies are not blennies even though it is in their common name. They are dragonettes ( The same family as mandarins) I have noticed most fish can change lighter or darker depending on a couple exterior factors.

Most fish do this. When I look in at the tank at night with a flashlight I'm still always shocked when I see my cinnamon clown and how pale he is at night.

On a side note, make sure he has plenty to eat. Like the person above me said, they are dragonettes and are related to mandarins and thus need tons of live food like pods to thrive.
