spotted sea hare

I just got a spotted sea hare to hopefully help get rid of hair algae. He's really quite interesting and if I ever run out of hair algae, I read he will eat Ulva. actually at the moment he's munching on chaeto (he's in my fuge 'til tomorrow). Does anyone have experience keeping the spotted sea hare? I see where many trade them in to LFS when hair algae is gone, but I'd like to keep him.

Yes,

However they tend to get sucked into power heads over time. :/ even if you take precautions and their life span in aquariums varies. Even when provided with proper algae to graze and no power head accidents they tend to last about 8 months or so under good care. IMO/E

I had a spotted sea hare for a long time, they are cool little creatures that can definitely mow down algae, the only thing I didn't like was the "slime trail" he left everywhere.

They only have about a 1 yr. lifespan even in the wild. I know they have preferences on types of algae they eat. I tried two on seperate occasions and both died after two weeks and don't know why. I have a mature tank w/ plenty of algae types, the only thing I could think of is my nitrates were a little high around 15-20. They are neat little creatures however, I hated that mine didn't make it.
