When is it time to upgrade skimmer?
I've been using a AquaC Remora pro skimmer on my tank since day 1. After I built a sump I moved it from the side of the DT to the side of my sump. This isn't the best skimmer in the world but my nitrate typically is <1 ppm with a heavy fish load in my 72g tank. Phosphate is typically 0 with the $40 Hanna meter.
So my question is what am I missing by not having a more powerful skimmer like a Reef Octopus, Bubble Magus or Vertex? How would I know if my skimmer is undersized for my tank?

Sounds like you are doing everything right, it is fun to try different skimmers just ask Mojo. I would check the club threads on the above skimmers to see which one has problems. There are some mini cone skimmers out now like the one Mojo just sold, I-Tech 100 is awesome skimmer also but this is more then the above skimmers so.
