Redo aquascape
So.. As the title says I really want to do my aquascape over. I don't want advice on how to lay it out. My question is I want to remove all of the rock and start from a clean slate. All my rock is live so I don't want to kill it. I'm filling up a 50 gallon drum of rodi water. Can I just put my rocks in there while I work on the scape? Or do I need to add salt to this new rodi water? And my final worry is, will this transport into new water cause any die off and cause me to go into a new cycle when I put the rock back in the tank. I plan to have this done in a few hours so the rock won't be out for days. Thank.

Definitely add salt and get it to correct specific gravity and temp. I'd use as much of your existing tank water as possible. If it's only a few hours, you should be fine, but I'd count on that major of a disruption causing at least some die-off.

Dang. Maybe I can move everything into a big pile and work around it and setup how and what I want.

I did this a year ago on my 180 and it worked out fine with no noticeable die or problems.
Wait till you are about to do a water change and go buy a 32 gallon trash can. Siphon out some water and then just put your rocks in there. That way you dont have to waste any water. |

Get a kiddie pool or a trash can to put the rocks in. You want to be able to take your time, not rush. If you rush you will not be happy and end up doing it right later.
