Angry Need a skimmer!!!

I'm going away for 3 weeks,a friend is coming over to check the tank but I'm afraid my exterior skimmer will flood my appartment while im gone and well.. I need an In-sump skimmer

90g SPS reef heavy stocked

it needs to be max 22 tall, less than 14 inches long and less than 12 deep

Here are a few options:

http://saltwaterconnection.com/index...&products_id=3

Any other options will be highly appreciated!

I would not run a new skimmer while it is breaking while I was away. Another good choice if you can find one used is a I-Tech 100 with the Tunze pump.

The 200 would be a better choice and is a great skimmer for the money.

another good option would be a sro-2000

Is this a permanent change or only for the 3 weeks?

Re: Need a skimmer!!!

I don't know anything about the skimmer you're running or the specs, but is there any way you can drill the simmercup and add a drain fitting of some sort? I did this to my Deltec APF600 and enjoyed worry-free skimming for 4 weeks last summer.

All your friend has to do is clean out the reactortube.

If you don't get a flood normally, I doubt you will.

You already have a drain container, so that's already a safe guard. You could put the drain container in a larger container such as a pail, tub, basin, QT or anything.

However if you are just looking for an excuse to upgrade, we all can understand that . I can't give you much advice here. The H&S 150 is my first real skimmer and I am still using it to this day. That might say something. The design is pretty straight forward and the build quality is top notch.

LOOL Navy xD

Yes I'm also looking for an excuse to upgrade my skimmer

seeing the skimmer next to the tank with all the wires annoys me
And getting a cabinet for it will cost me half of the price of a new skimmer...

I already had a flood once and since I'm going away for a while I don't want any mad neighbors and a smelly carpet when I come back

Skimmer overflowed about 4-5 gallons on me the other week. Carpet REAKED!! I had to rent a rug doctor and go over it 4 times and move the tank to get the carpet underneath. Then I had to leave my windows open for days before the smell went away. Now my skimmer isn't working well at all anymore.

I believe those are all good skimmers that you have chosen. They are all worth the money.

What is the external that you are using now? Most of the time, you can run it in the sump. This would solve the overflow and aesthetic issues, but not the skimmer upgrade desire.

Look into the SWC 160 CONE. It is a great fit for your tank size and is super quiet.

Look into the SRO units that Octopus has. For a 90 gallon reef you could run the 1000 or 2000 and they are amazing skimmers for the price. Bubble blaster pump is a beast

Thanks everyone for the replies... Sooo I think I'm going towards the SWC 180 cone protein skimmer! it will be available within the next 4 weeks LOL I'm just waiting to hear the price from the manufacturer and I'll buy it the specs:

Sicce based cone skimmer.
Footprint is 9x8x21"
For tanks 125g-225g.
Air pull 900-1100lph at 23w
best in 8" water level but does fine in 7-9"

I love the footprint

Should I wait for it or go for the SWC Xtreme 200 protein Skimmer???
