Lettuce Nudibranch
Is this ok for a reef tank? By what I heard, they are good for eating the stringy green algae. Is this correct? It would be going into a 90 gal if I got one.

IME they are OK at eating algae, but don't last that long. They seem to have a love for powerheads, overflows, or anything else dangerous to their fragile bodies. If you have lots of long hair algae, a sea hare would mow it down in days. Be prepared to return once it is finished with the job. Also, look at the reason you have so much algae to prevent future spread. Make sure you use RO/DI water, heavy skimming, phosphate reducer (GFO), a good clean up crew, cleaning sponges and filter pads often, and anything else to keep phosphates in check. HTH

To a certain extent your are correct. Often noted as an algae eater, this animal is often purchased and added to the home aquarium to control nuisance hair algae. The Lettuce Slug doesn’t eat hair algae, however, they eat bryopsis. Bryopsis is a noxious weed that can take over a large aquarium in a very short time choking out corals. For a 90 gallon you will need at least 3 of them. Once GHA is gone the will starve or your power heads/overflow will take care of them.
