I agree that a Controller is your best bet, but before I got my Reefkeeper, we had a couple of nice digital timers that we purchased at Harbor Freight. Do you have one of those nearby? I seem to remember that they were about ten bucks a piece.

Im another advocate for a quality controller over a digital timer. You can get a lot for just a little and its worth every penny.

If you dont want to spend the money on a controller or only need a timer, Home depot or lowes get the digital intermatic outdoor timer. Has 2 outlets and is like 20$ I have 4 they all work great, set and forget.

i asked this same question on my local reef club site. and alot of people are saying that most of their digital timers ALWAYS eventually fail. has anyone here had those same problems with digital timers?

end of the day...ur gonna spend $20 x 4 on timers...take into consideration the ones that stop working, the ones that burn up so on and so forth. been there doine that. forget the coralife controllers....no one on the board can say "been using one for the last five years, no problems".

get a controller, i like AC products..save money down the road.
