Molting shrimp good sign?

I have been having issues with fish dying for no apparent reason. I've had a coral banded shrimp though for the last month and half and it has molted twice during this time. Is this a good sign or does it mean nothing at all except my shrimp is still alive...?

Well, the molting is a good sign for the shrimp. But the bad news is, I'll bet the shrimp is what's getting your fish. What kind of fish were they?

If you had a water quality issue, inverts like shrimp or snails are usually the first to go.

I have 2 Peppermint Shrimp and they molt at least once a month. The last time the one molted my wife told me that one of my shrimp died and was all white I told her it probably had molted lol.

I really don't think it was the shrimp that got them. Well, maybe some of them but if that was the case then the fish would have been sick with something else for it to grab them. And the fish where so much larger than the coral banded.

The ones that died with no apparent reason are two angel fish (coral beauty and fire angel) and 3 bangai cardinals.

Molting is a natural process, and is a good sign that the shrimp is growing and getting the trace elements it needs. Some contribute dosing amminos to the molting of captive shrimp and crabs.

Was the shrimp in there before the fish? These guys hide out and pounce upon unsuspecting fish. Size isn't much of an issue. It's happened to me.

Peppermint shrimp don't have appetites for fish, at least in my experience...

When I bought my Peppermint Shrimp there were feasting on a dead fish in their tank.

We're not talking about a peppermint shrimp. I thought we were talking about a coral banded shrimp.

Peppermints won't kill a fish, but a coral banded will.

Shrimp will molt every few weeks just pull it and flush it.
