skimmer and lighting/tank questions

Ok im looking to buy a skimmer that sits outside of the tank and sump that simply has a pump that pumps water to the skimmer then to the tank if you know what i mean? I dont have a skimmer on my tank now i have a 10 gallon nano, im upgrading to either a 20gallon high or a 30gallon finnex M-Tank so it would have to be able to handle that water volume. Id like to spend as little as possible as right now im not made of money if ya catch my drift hehe :P .Now this brings me to my second question.
I have a 24inch 4 bulb Current USA 96watt T5 light. Now what is the max dimensions on a tank that i can use this lighting fixture with. As stated before i want to upgrade my nano to something alittle larger but i want to use the light that i currently own. The tank size needs to be able to support SPS with the light that i have already as u would be moving all the contents of my current tank into the larger one. the tank obviously has to be 24 inches long but what would be the max width or height that i could be safe having? Like i said before im looking into a regular 20gallon high or the finnex 30 gallon M-Tank. I want something alittle wider thank the 20gallon high though as its only 12 inches wide. would i be able to get away with a tank that is 18inches wide with the light i have? do they even make a tank like this? If someone could point me in the right direction i would apreciate it!thanks in advance!!!!!

If you are going to have a sump do an in sump skimmer or a HOB on the sump. I am pretty sure all of the external skimmers are going to be too large for a 20-30g.

I am not that good with HOB skimmers so I cant recommend one from experience.

As for your lighting I think you could do the 18" wide tank. Just put your corals where there is enough light if it cant cover the last few inches.

I use the aqua-C remora filter as a HOB and its decent for what you want, you can hang it on the back of your sump. Only problem may be it's abit long at the base so you need to take this into consideration when trying to determine if you can use it on your sump.

i dont plan on having the sump on the tank to be honest because then that forces me to have to go out and spend more money on a pump lol . I think im going to get the Aqua-c remora i see someone selling it for cheap on another forum thanks!!.
As for the tank ive contacted Glasscages to make me a tank. I want it to be 24Lx16Wx16H . i think those dimensions would be perfect for me . Ill then make a custom stand. i want them to put a center overflow box in so i can hide a pump and just have the Hydow flo sticking out, and i can hide an ATO and the intake of my Aquaclear fuge in the overflow box as well. The tank wont be drilled but i guess i can have the option later down the line. Now they asked me to make them a Diagram of what i need, i have no idea how to do this or where i would even begin on makin a diagram?? anyone have any ideas? thanks!!
