So many new bulbs to consider...

I just picked up a Current usa 48in fixture and I was told the bulbs needed replaced. I am coming from a single mogul MH that was easy to buy a new bulb for. Now I have 6 different bulbs to mix and match.........ahhhhh

Instead of reinventing the wheel with my time I figured I would hit you lighting guru's up to do the thinking for me (and I much appreciate you guys for doing it!)

Here is what I need
2-250w HQI SE bulbs
4-T5's (I am pretty sure they are 54w, but just to make sure this is what they say on the side - F54/85T5V-HO)

I really like a bluer actinic look. I have corals (nems, shrooms, acros, softies, a royal smathering of randomness really) that I need to please.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you...

hey drclifton, if you like blue, try to get your hands on 14k pheonix for the halides, and go with 2 uvl super actinic, and 2 ati blue+ for the t5's.... should give you the color your looking for.

I'd throw a Fiji purple in there somewhere. The Fiji purple brings out the Reds in corals.
I'd go with
Ati Blue +
Fiji Purple
Ati Blue +
Ati Blue +
Along with 2 Phoenix bulbs.. that'll give you a 15k look with tons of PAR.

I'd do a little of both, 2 ATI blueplus,, 1 FiJi Purple and one UVL actinic. I'd put the fiji purple and the UVL on one switch for a cool eery purplish dawn/dusk

I like that idea chuckreef!

I took a look at the bulbs that are in there now and he was using the UVL super actinics x4 which didnt look bad. I think I will go with the 2 Phoenix MH. How purple is the fiji purple light?

I guess somewhat related if I have a 4x2x2 ft tank how far above the tank should I suspend this light fixture?

Be on the look out for the new line of ATI bulbs coming out soon. They have a bulb coming out that compares to the Fiji Purple and should be about $10 cheaper.

ATI and KZ are made in the same factory, Sylvania. It's about time ATI jumped in on the red bulbs. The Pro Color was a terrible first try.

I like chuckreef's idea that best. 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 UVL Super Actinic and 1 Fiji Purple.

I run 2 mh's HQI DE and 4 T-5.

I dont know how the phoenix SE bulbs compare to the DE version, but I run 2 phoenix 14k's with 2 G-man attinic, 1 fiji purple, and 1 ati blue +. I got all mine from premium aquatics.

Mine is very very blue. But if its to blue for you, you can always take out 1 of the atinic and add a 10-12k t-5.
