Could this be a red feather duster??

He does retract back into the rock when he is alerted.

Spirorbid worm I believe...I know it is a tube worm of some sort!

It's not a spionid worm, they don't have a crown of feathers like the one displayed (if I'm seeing the picture correctly).

It looks to be a small feather duster of some sort, a beneficial filter feeder.
