Ah, crud. What have I done to my RODI?

I was planning to change my filters today. I'm looking at the unit (something I rarely do!) and said hmmm, I'm never done a "fast flush" before. So I did it just for kicks. Big mistake, apparently.

The water production was slowed almost to a complete stop.

I went ahead and changed the filters out, and used a measuring cup and a stopwatch to clock my production. I'm getting just under one GPH. (It's a 75 gallon-per-day unit, should be doing about 3gph)

Okay, what have I done??

The production will drop a lot with the flush valve open, but should return to normal once it is closed.

The flush basically just bypasses the restrictor which allows more water to pass over the membrane. Is the flush valve a little valve that is plumed parallel to your restrictor? I would open and close it a few times. If you still have the same problem, open up the membrane housing and see if everything looks ok in there. Maybe a the flushing caused something to get clogged.

Sounds like flushing may have washed something into the restrictor. I would pull the restrictor out and make sure it's clean.

Thanks guys.

I think I got it running, or maybe it got itself running ...

The restrictor seems clear. I fast-flushed it again, and it helped some, so I flushed it a LOT, and then left the house for a couple hours while it was filling my mixing barrel. Now it seems up to 3 GPH again at the moment.

Now the only problem is, my ex girlfriend has my TDS meter.
