The consensus is about 50 / 50 - half the folks love them, the other half seem to say that the guy is a little flaky.
I have one that I picked up from another reefer and it's not too bad a tank, but I prefer glass also. At any rate, I buy stuff like that local as large items never ship well for me. |

Acrylic rules! and thats from a guy who is stuck with two glass tanks.
Been keeping salt for 40 yrs. My next tank is going to have a built in the back chamber for skimmer and refugium and no sump at all.

As to your original question, Advanced Acrylics has an excellent reputation.

If the tank gets scratched can u buff it out while it is full of water/livestock? Or will it cause damage to the seals?

You can always buff out the outside of the tank, The inside can be sanded out a bit, but to get it like new really takes draining.

It is difficult, but certainly possible to buff out scratches with water in the tank. Often the live rock and coral make it hard to get to some areas.

I am very happy with my 16x16x10 w/ext overflow from him. It was a non buy it now auction that I won at the extremely low price of $17.50 (he lists them for $175.00). I paid that same day and he shipped it out the next day in a very well packed box. He did not skimp on packaging material or send me a broken tank or anything shady at all. I remember opening the box and thinking to myself this guy is a stand up person all the way.

Awsome thanks for the reviews, this will make my choice much easier now. He did say it would be packaged well...in a 5ft x 3ft wooden crate fedx. Verry good prices also and the quality from online pics looks clean and pretty well built.

Had glass tanks all my life and finally convinced myself into getting a acrylic tank could not be happier it requires more care and other than that not that much different from all my other tanks and the clarity is second to none other than saffire glass

I have nothing but good things to say. I ordered a custom sump/fuge from him. John was good to work with, returned emails, shipped promptly and the product arrived in perfect condition.
I posted some info and pics on a previous thread here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...2#post16578532

Yes, I know this is an old thread but if this guy is shipping UPS can anyone comment on his packaging ? will he help with UPS since only the shipper can deal with UPS?
I am seeing people say he has a great quality but less than good business and people skills. UPS is brutal so if this guy is shipping tanks and does not pack them to their specs (which are almost impossible without your shipping costs doubling) then they will deny the claim anyway... |
