20 long SPS lighting help
Hello guys,
I am here because i want to do a 20 long reef tank and I really like the look of SPS tanks. So I think I am leaning more towards having mainly SPS. The tank I am doing is 30 inches long and 12 inches deep. Sort of oddball length for bulbs so I'm trying to find lighting I should get. I know I want to do T5's but can't decided strictly on which fixture to get. And i'm hoping you guys can help me guide me to good lights. Lately I have been thinking about going with the 30" current usa sundial fixture. Its 4x24w T5 fixture with moonlights and timers on the back. Thanks. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated. |

Aquatic Life makes 30" T5 fixtures as well. Any 24" fixture, or even 24" retro, will do the job also. As long as you have individual reflectors, and you use HO bulbs and ballasts, you're good to go.

I have the 30 inch aquaticlife T5 HO with timer and it works great. You might want to change the stock bulbs for some nice ati.

ok. I'll look into the aquaticlife fixture. Rubadakis where did you buy your fixture and have you seen it anywhere for cheap or cheaper for what you paid for it?
Thanks |

Is the aquaticlife fixture adequate for keeping SPS since its only 2x24w T5.
The light I was thinking about getting is the Current USA 30 inch and its 4x24w T5's. |

You're looking at the wrong unit. Aquatic Life has a 4 x 24"w T5 unit with a built in timer and leds, and I believe they still make it in both 24" and 30" varieties.
http://www.aquaticlife.com/t5ho/index.html I currently have the 72" on my 8ft reef and yes, I grow SPS under it.

Oo alright. I see now. I was looking on my phone and guess I didn't see it.
So you guys prefer the 30" aquaticlife fixture of the 30" current USA sundial fixture? Heres the link to the Sundial: http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.co...id=18486&r=558 |

I used a 24" Tek fixture over my 20 long back when I had it. Worked great, since 20 longs are so short, I really had to be careful and acclimate new frags or they'd bleach.
