Help me ID this crab
55 gallon tank, live rock, live sand all from TBS, fully cycled with 2 goby's (one fire, one tiger (hitchiker) and now one maroon clown.
This guy was a hitchhiker that just appeared a week or two ago int he tank. I saw it attacking my cucumber. I rescued the cuke, and isolated him, and he's back in the tank now hiding under a rock, but safe for now. I don't think this is a "bad" crab (except for bullying my cuke!), though he's hairy, he doesn't have black tips on his pincers. He's fairly large (compared to my hermits) body is at least 1.5" big. i have 2 gorilla crabs I'm trying to get out, but so far they haven't eaten anything bad that I know of (except for my bait!) they're smart things! Thanks for any help you can give me!!! Cheryl |

May be a relative of the Emerald Crab. Looks like it is in the Majidae. Could be young majid. Check out Lynbinia dubia
