Black Sand in Display and thick white sand bed in fuge????

I have a 7.5g cube and im turning it into an sps tank. I have a 60 gal sump that im connecting. I know that white sand acts as a buffer to help keep ph levels down, but i was wondering if i can put black moon sand in the display and put a thick white sand bed in the refuge. The refuge is roughly 20 gallons inside the sump tank.

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION ON HOW MUCH OF AN OVERKILL A 60 GALLON SUMP IS. I get hell about that from people on rc all the time and its pointless. The scratched up tank was given to me already turned into a sump so why not use it. There are no negative aspects of having a sump that much larger than the display so please, I do not want to hear that.

Thanks,
Zac

Forgot to emphasize this;
It is going to have lots of sps and aussie. Ive heard that black sand is not good for an sps tank.

I like large sumps. I have a 40 gallon sump for my 40 breeder display. Water volume is your friend. You will have a rock solid 9 gallon display. My question is why your fuge is only 20 gallons.

white sand does not act to buffer PH, put what you want in the display

20g is plenty large enough for a fuge in his system, i have 140f volume and I grow enough chaeto in a 10g section thats enough for 2 tanks
